“Sons de ciutat” (City Sounds) is a programme promoted by Barcelona City Council whose aim is to take quality music to the outstanding shopping lines of the city. It stages small-format concerts at streets, squares and market halls of Barcelona, with proposals in such surprisingly diverse styles as jazz, funk, classical music, rock, folk music and opera, the latter having been added to the programme this year.
The 2023-24 season marks the second edition of “Sons de ciutat”, featuring a total of six months of concerts distributed in three periods of the year: autumn (October and November), Christmas (December and January), and spring (February and March).
In the autumn and spring periods, Fundació Òpera a Catalunya participates with three operas presented in previous editions of the Sabadell Opera School, in reduced format and with dialogued parts presented by the singers and the pianist. These operas are W. A. Mozart’s DON GIOVANNI, G. Rossini’s IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA and Ch. Gounod’s ROMÉO ET JULIETTE. Gounod.
